No serial #, 36 caliber percussion, 20 inch heavy barrel, bright excellent bore. This 1840s underhammer rifle is unmarked and it remains in very good condition. Features include heavy (1.083 inch at muzzle) barrel with wedding ring, long base rear sight, engraved tang, brass crescent butplate, german silver patch box, and highly figured stock. The barrel shows a nice brown patina with scattered minor dings and dents. Brass parts have a nice dark color. Stock has many small dings, toe shows a crack with piece held in place by the butplate. Simple sling rings were added during period of use, they are soldered in place. A very attractive New England style small game rifle.
